Since the re-launch of FIRA Gold certification earlier this year, the number of furniture retailers and manufacturers achieving FIRA Gold Product and Installation Certification has grown rapidly. This is fantastic news, as certification means further reassurance for furniture consumers, specifiers, purchasers and contractors alike.
FIRA Gold Certification gives an endorsement that products and installation services are of a high standard, with continual auditing to ensure that British, European and International standards are either met or exceeded. Consumers are becoming more and more reluctant to spend without researching the market first and FIRA Gold helps them with this process. Therefore consumer awareness of FIRA Gold has grown, especially in the kitchen sector, with consumers enquiring if products and installation services are certified before purchasing. This suggests that FIRA accreditations not only ensures high standards, but can also encourage sales.
Large retailers Homebase and B&Q have become two of the most recent companies to achieve FIRA Gold Certification. B&Q have received certification for the installation of their kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Homebase have become the first kitchen retailer to hold both accreditations for their kitchen products and installation services.
FIRA will be exhibiting at the Timber Expo at Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 27 and 28 September. Visitors can find FIRA at Stand 01-Z34, 01-Z35 where they will be on hand to provide information on FIRA certification schemes and also the environmental issues of furniture production. FIRA’s environmental experts will be present to share information on the FIRA Carbon Footprinting Project, The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) and FIRA’s other Environmental Consultancy Services.
