WHEN tasked with replacing the flooring in two respite care centres, for Ward Flooring Solutions, Tarkett was the obvious choice.
The Shaw Healthcare and Kent County Council centres needed updating and, wanting to create a more homely feel, Ward Flooring selected Tarkett Safetred Wood.
The Tarkett range provided the functionality needed for a respite care centre without compromising on aesthetics.
More than 1,400 square metres of the flooring has been installed in numerous dining areas, bedrooms and hallways used by patients.
Chris Ward, director of Ward Flooring Solutions, said: “We had a number of challenging requirements to fulfil when picking the flooring for the care centres.
“Probably the biggest consideration was that it had to be pleasing to the eye, but also non-slip and suitable for a healthcare environment.
“The Tarkett flooring selected met all of our needs. It was natural in appearance and offered numerous advantages to our fitters, to Shaw Healthcare, Kent County Council, patients and to the various care staff and nurses who work there.”
The Safetred Wood range comes in a choice of nine natural colours, is easy to install due to the superior flexibility of the sheet, and is made using a minimum 32% recycled content.
With a small number of the people using the respite care centres suffering from dementia it was essential that they have as homely a feel as possible.
John Devine, UK Sales Director for Tarkett, said: “Tarkett’s extensive range of non-slip Safetred safety flooring is perfect for healthcare environments.
“Creating a warm, aesthetically pleasing environment can make such a difference in care. Rooms become much more familiar and, by appearing less ‘clinical’, can contribute to the provision of more calming surroundings.”
Tarkett’s range of Safetred flooring also includes ‘Naturals’; a collection of authentic stone colours. As well as being suitable for medical and care environments they can be used in leisure, education and retail spaces.
