The competition received an overwhelming response this year, with over 350 entries, with the Cooper School selected at random to win Heckmondwike FB’s Supacord carpet, plus fitting, to a value of £1,000.
Mr Ben Baxter, Headteacher at The Cooper School, said: “It was a great surprise to win the competition and fantastic to have Heckmondwike FB supporting us in upgrading our school, especially when budgets are tight. We have used Supacord before in our classrooms and it stands up to the rigors of school life really well, so it’s great that we won this competition and can further upgrade the flooring in other important areas.”
The Cooper School, which is a comprehensive with over 1,300 pupils, has chosen to upgrade the foyer/entrance lobby to its Sports and Performance Halls. The School chose Pebble from the Supacord range for the outside edges of the area, which was inset with purple panels, to reflect the school and post-16 centre’s corporate colours.
He adds: “It is great that we have been able to upgrade an area that is used not only by our pupils and teachers but also the local community, such as drama, sports and church groups. It is really helping to create the right first impression with visitors and we’re really pleased with the end result.”
Heckmondwike FB Abby Chandler, Marketing Manager, explains: “We had an overwhelming response to our Carpet for Schools competition, with over twice as many entries as last year. We have enjoyed a strong working relationship with schools over the past 40 years and we congratulate the winners on their success and hope they enjoy their prizes!”
Runners up in the competition include second prizes of a Sebo vacuum cleaner and £200 each for Poltair School in Cornwall, Wonersh and Shamley Green C of E Infant School in Surrey and Tewkesbury School in Gloucestershire and third prizes of £100 each went to North Baddesley Junior School, Woodlawn School and Burlescombe Primary Schools.
