It was back in 2009 when, after a lengthy period of time working via an agent throughout the UK & Ireland, IBS (established in Germany in 1994) made the strategic decision to set up their own UK based subsidiary company in order to be able to deal directly with customers and deliver the best products, at the most competitive price and to ensure the best possible customer service.
On 31st March 2009, IBS Engineered Products Ltd was formally registered and, following a short ‘finding your feet’ period and a change in personnel, we relocated from Warrington and found ourselves a larger, modern home near Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Fast forward 5 years and you will find that we are one of the UK’s foremost flood protection and flow control equipment providers, leading the way in the UK and Ireland in the design, supply and installation of a number of products including demountable flood walls, glass flood defence systems and lightweight stoplogs. The former, of course, is a well recognised product and indeed has been on the TV several times during the recent flooding events, in particular at Bewdley where the demountable flood wall is used successfully time and time again to protect the town against the rising River Severn. Countless other large high profile schemes can be referenced, Mogden STW, Upton-upon-Severn FRMS, Keswick FRMS, The Helix Project and so on, all of which we can say we have successfully executed whatever the product, be it penstocks, stoplogs, glass walls or demountable flood barriers.
What then will the next 5 years hold for our progressive and growing business? Well, we’re proud members of the Flood Protection Association and can also count many of the UK and Ireland’s public authorities, utility companies and leading contractors as happy clients so we’ve certainly formed a solid platform for the business to continue to grow. Plus, with product development and improvement ongoing all the time we’ll be ensuring we remain at the front of the pack when it comes to product quality and competitiveness.
