Gaia underfloor heating system for prestige retirement development

Gaia has supplied its low-temperature hot water (LTHW) underfloor heating system to an exclusive development of retirement homes in Storrington, West Sussex.

Orchard Gardens is a collection of 25 two and three-bedroom houses and apartments for the over-55s, built by Beechcroft Developments on land that was once the orchard of nearby St Joseph’s Abbey.

A specialist in exclusive retirement homes, Beechcroft is one of the UK’s leading developers of high quality accommodation for the over-55s in some of the most attractive towns and villages in South East England.

Quality of materials, design and finish are paramount to Beechcroft, says Gaia’s account manager, Harriet Johnston: “These are very high-end developments and are designed to be very energy-efficient”.

Gaia’s LTHW underfloor system was chosen to provide space heating to the ground floors of all 20 of the houses on the site.

Gaia’s wide range of heating products offers the optimum solution for all types of floor, whether concrete or suspended timber, and all types of floorcovering.

At Orchard Gardens, the LTHW system was chosen as it was the most appropriate technology for the gas-fired boilers specified by the client.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Beechcroft, which has specified our products on a number of previous projects” comments Harriet.

In addition to the system itself, Gaia offers a complete turnkey solution and will not only manufacture but also design, insulate and install the heating system, which provides a quality result.

Gaia also offers the well-known DEVI electric underfloor system which is a popular choice, particularly when coupled with renewable heat sources such as ground- and air-source heat pumps.
