Big Foot Systems Lands in India

Big Foot Systems has supplied its Light Duty Frame to support rooftop plant on an office building in Bangalore, the first installation of Big Foot Systems in India. IT company, OPEN TEXT, are based in the new office building and chose the system as they wanted a neat and standard roof installation that was quick and easy to install.

Selected to support 14 Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) outdoor units on a concrete roof, the four Light Duty (LD) frames created a freestanding framework system that is non-penetrative, meaning there is no chance of leaks in the future and there was no need to involve a civil contractor in making concrete on site. The frames are robust yet lightweight so less structural support was needed elsewhere and calculations for wind loadings were used to ensure the frames can withstand local wind conditions. The range offers an array of solutions to support a variety of AHUs, VRFs and air conditioning systems.

“This was a new product for the country – the LD frames were very easy to install and no challenges were experienced. It only took 2 hours to fit each frame with just two men and no special tools. Full drawings are provided and it is a very straightforward system to install” explains Jai Kumar, Territory Sales Manager, Big Foot Systems. “The products met the customer’s requirements and they are very pleased with the final installation. The LD frames, coupled with the technical expertise on offer from Big Foot Technical, resulted in a smooth and straightforward installation and a happy client.”

MEP consultant, Mr Thomas Verghees of Air Synthesis, Bangalore, Karnataka-India. Specified Big Foot Systems for the project – a first in India. He worked with architects, Simha Associates, and contractors, Surajmani Engineers, to deliver the project.

“I am very pleased with the LD frames from Big Foot Systems that I specified and I am looking forward to working with them again on future projects” said Mr Thomas Verghees of Air Synthesis. “The frames offer many benefits to the Indian market.”

Supplying customers with engineered solutions, the Light Duty series is designed to provide the broadest range of support options in its sector by offering both 1.2m and 1.5m cross bars on a 1m to 15m long frame. This flexibility is ideal when siting larger VRFs which can be over 1.2m in length. The high quality robust frames are 40mm x 40mm Hot Dipped Galvanised (HDG) box section, so are able to withstand adverse weather conditions and available on adjustable height leg assemblies with an option of three re-enforced nylon foot sizes to distribute the load evenly on flat roofs. A 10 year warranty comes as standard.
