Located in the stunning Yorkshire countryside is this beautiful bespoke kitchen by The Main Company – this rustic 18th century barn has been fully renovated to create a unique family home.
Combining traditional features with contemporary accents, the barn has been transformed to create a kitchen with a light and airy feel. This was achieved by knocking through a number of rooms and adding floor-to-ceiling windows to allow more natural light to reach the space; which was a key part of the homeowner’s design brief.
Old meets new in this stunning new kitchen area with existing features such as exposed beams and brickwork taking centre stage. An ideal canvas, the characterful space with its raw materials and natural texture provided the perfect starting point for a bespoke kitchen design.
Traditional shaker-style cabinetry was chosen by the homeowners. Finished in North Brink Grey from Little Greene, this muted grey with sage green hues adds colour without dominating or darkening the space. To create visual contrast the island is painted with Pompeian Ash, this darker shade works well alongside the chosen hardware.
Classic elements such as a refurbished AGA were installed to complement the property’s heritage, this was offset by modern elements including black Button & Punch handles and a luxurious Quooker hot water tap.
Storage is present throughout, with a combination of full-length cupboards and oak open shelving, providing ample storage space for daily essentials; the use of reclaimed oak enhances character and adds depth to the space. Further storage space is built into the island – which also provides room for breakfast bar seating – whilst creating a divide between the main kitchen and living space.
In addition to the kitchen, The Main Company supplied a bespoke television unit and fully-fitted boot room. The use of the same rustic and reclaimed materials creates a seamless flow and helps to retain a level of cohesion throughout this outstanding property.
With the help of The Main Company, this rustic barn conversion in Yorkshire has been transformed into a beautiful family kitchen with endless visual appeal.
