Hamilton comes to the four on INCA shortlist

Hamilton (Building Contractors) Ltd has been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) awards, not once but four times.

The 2021 INCA awards, which are to be held on Friday 26th November in Birmingham, celebrate the best of the best in EWI and showcase a diverse range of projects.

Hamilton has 25 years’ experience in the industry, and works with only respected, time-served manufacturers. Managing Director, Robert Storton, says: “It’s always a delight to be nominated for awards such as this, in partnership with some of our most trusted, long-standing suppliers; Wetherby Building Systems Ltd, K Systems, and Aliva UK Ltd.

“We don’t tend to seek out trophies and accolades here at Hamilton; our main priority is simply providing the best possible solutions for our clients. However, being shortlisted for these awards recognises and highlights the calibre of our supply partners and all our team’s ongoing hard work and commitment to quality – certainly something to be celebrated.”

Hamilton partnered on four of the projects shortlisted by INCA judges in two categories: ‘Refurb: Insulation + Rendered Finish’ and ‘Refurb: Insulation + Brick, Clay, Ceramic, Stone Finish’.

Using Wetherby Building Systems’ external wall insulation system, Hamilton helped refurbish two high rise tower blocks in Oldham – Littlemoor House and Montgomery House – bringing them in line with current building regulations. While the previous façade system was not an aluminium composite material (ACM) it was still essential that it was replaced.

Working with K Systems, Hamilton contributed to the major refurbishment of one Salford’s highest residential buildings, delivering modernised aesthetics and improved thermal performance. Fitzwarren Court had been earmarked for demolition before Salix Homes secured funding for improvements.

Hamilton was nominated with Aliva UK Ltd for projects in Crosby and Warrington, where two 1960s concrete-framed office blocks were converted to residential accommodation, requiring visual and thermal improvements. To comply with planning conditions the finish had to replicate brick on both, and one required feature heads, cills and reveals to replicate stonework. The buildings’ U-values were reduced from 1.3 and 1.2 to just 0.28W/m2k.

Robert adds: “We work with only the finest suppliers, so it’s no surprise they should be shortlisted for their contribution to these impressive projects. We’re very proud to share the nominations and we wish everyone the best of luck on the night.”
