Since its launch the award-winning City Multi Hybrid VRF has set new standards for air conditioning.
The system is especially popular in the hotel sector where its combination of high levels of comfort control, with the avoidance of leak detection equipment in occupied spaces, enable it to both comply with BS EN 378 and meet the needs of hotel operators.
Did you know that these unique features have also made it suitable for almost any commercial building?
Hybrid VRF provides the perfect solution for offices, medical centres, high-rise buildings, showrooms, care homes, shopping centres, public houses and much more, with the system delivering all the design and installation flexibility of traditional VRF, with comfort levels normally associated with a chiller system.
City Multi Hybrid VRF really has become the modern alternative to traditional heating and cooling methods. See in this short video how the totally unique 2-pipe heat recovery VRF system, is connected to a Hybrid Branch Controller (HBC) and water pipework is used between the HBC and indoor units.
And did you know that City Multi Hybrid VRF is the World’s first R32 Hybrid solution. By utilising lower GWP R32 refrigerant, this helps businesses achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility targets, as well as future-proof their buildings and equipment. By combining R32 with the merits of a Hybrid system, more than an 80% reduction in CO2equivalent can be achieved as it uses up to 40% less refrigerant, when compared to an R410A VRF system.
Hybrid VRF is quick, easy and flexible to design and install using the same control and network as VRF systems. The decentralised system means phased installation is possible with the same high levels of seasonal efficiency expected with VRF.
Here’s a summary of the key features of the Hybrid VRF system:
- High efficiency system delivers outstanding seasonal energy performance
- Utilises lower GWP R32 refrigerant
- Heat recovery achieves energy savings of up to 30% over heat pump systems
- Adjustable noise level options to suit application
- No refrigerant in occupied spaces, removing the need for leak detection under BS EN 378
- Decentralised system allows for phased installation – ideal for Cat A to Cat B fit-outs
New addition to the Hybrid VRF range
At the heart of both Air Source and Water Source system layout, the Hybrid Branch Controller (HBC) makes simultaneous heating and cooling possible, with improved system efficiency as energy is transferred intelligently around the building. Our latest addition is a vertical, floor standing HBC.
Designed with complete flexibility and freedom of design in mind, the new Vertical HBC unit has all the key components accessible from the front and at floor level during commissioning.
The installation of additional water-side ancillaries such as expansion vessel, water filling loop and isolation valves is also simpler, as they are all located at floor level.
We will be taking a more detailed look into the Vertical HBC in our next Consultant Focus update, but for more information on the Vertical Hybrid Branch Controller now, visit: https://library.mitsubishielectric.co.uk/
