Work begins on £9.7 million affordable housing scheme in Norfolk
Work is underway on a £9.7m housing project that will create 73 new affordable homes in Necton, Norfolk.
Named Tower Mill, the development is being delivered by United Living New Homes’ subsidiary, Partner Construction, on behalf of leading housing provider, Flagship Homes. It will see a mix of two-bedroom bungalows, one-bedroom walk-up flats and two, three and four bedroomed houses constructed on the site, on North Pickenham Road.
Supported by Homes England funding, all the properties will be available for either shared ownership or affordable rent, ensuring genuine affordability for residents and widening the range of housing options for the local community.
At a ground-breaking ceremony to get work underway, Frank Lincoln, Regional Managing Director of Partner Construction | United Living New Homes said: “We are delighted to have started building at Tower Mill. Working collaboratively with Flagship Homes, we look forward to delivering high-quality new homes that will provide a welcome housing boost to the local community.
“We pride ourselves on supporting people with our affordable homes and employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors. We are determined to ensure that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes.”
Tony Tann, Managing Director with Flagship Homes, added: “The housing provision being created here in Necton will ensure that many local people and families will have access to quality affordable housing. It’s fantastic that work is now underway and we are pleased to have Partner Construction working with us, sharing in our vision to provide a huge housing boost to the area.
“The name ‘Tower Mill’ was chosen as a nod to the local mill in the village and we feel that this is a great starting point in the process of integrating this new development with the existing community. In addition, the beautiful rural location and open space is to be respected with landscaping plans already in pace, to ensure the scheme is in keeping with the surrounding area.”
The new homes are due to be completed in early 2024.
Tower Mill is one of two projects being delivered in close partnership between Partner Construction | United Living New Homes and Flagship Homes. The other, is a £8.4m scheme that will see the creation of 53 new homes – again, all for shared ownership and affordable rent – in Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex.
Partner Construction | United Living New Homes is part of United Living Group. It is currently active on 13 live sites across the country and has plans to deliver circa 500 new homes in the current financial year.
