Mitsubishi Electric delivers efficient cooling and air filtration to stylish Sheffield hotel
Sheffield’s 4-star Leopold Hotel is benefiting from a new air conditioning system which delivers energy efficient, controllable comfort for guests.
During the recent refurbishment, Greenhill Air Conditioning, installed seven new City Multi R2 VRF outdoor units, which also utilise heat recovery to balance energy use across the hotel. Greenhill are based near Sheffield and are Diamond Quality Partners with Mitsubishi Electric, the manufacturer of the City Multi system, meaning they are able to offer the Prem Hotel Group a 10-year warranty.
Consultants Shearstone Mechanical Ltd worked with Distributor Kooltech to establish the best solution for the hotel, which could use existing refrigerant pipework. The modern systems are now keeping hotel rooms at the right temperature for guests, and also bring advanced control for hotel staff, while helping to minimise disruption during routine maintenance schedules.
“We’ve completed a number of successful projects with Kooltech, so the project seemed a perfect fit for their expertise,” explained Tim Shearstone Director of Shearstone Mechanical.
Sheffield Leopold Hotel puts guest comfort at the fore, and with heat recovery technology, excess energy from cooling rooms can be reused rather than wasted and the energy efficiency of the systems is maximised.
PEFY-P VMS slimline ducted indoor units were installed into each of the ninety bedrooms, with each indoor unit linking back to a Branch Controller Box that sends heating or cooling to each room as required by guests. These boxes were factory-fitted with Kooltech’s K-con port isolation valves, making future service and maintenance to individual rooms easy without the need to shut down the complete system.
Greenhill’s skilled installation team were able to enclose the slimline ducted in-door units, so that guests get the comfort they expect without compromising on the style and quality of the room décor.
“Our engineers also installed Mitsubishi Electric’s unique Plasma Quad technology to the indoor fan coils in each bedroom to improve guest comfort and give reassurance on the back of the Covid pandemic,” explained Ian Hunter, Director at Greenhill AC.
This award-winning technology improves air quality by neutralising irritants such as pollen, bacteria, dust and viruses, and microscopic particles down to PM2.5, as well as inhibiting SARS-CoV-2.
With exceptionally high standards for service at the hotel, guests are now benefiting from complete control over their heating and cooling, as well as the reassurance of modern air filtration and high levels of energy efficiency.
