Make the most of TDUK resources

At Timber Development UK our remit is to provide our members with the very latest news, information and updates from across the timber supply chain. Every day we work to connect, inspire and support more than 1,500 businesses to build a better world through wood.

As the largest and most comprehensive timber supply chain body in the UK, we are committed to helping you grow your connections, knowledge and understanding of how best to buy, sell and use timber in your businesses, by building the largest, most comprehensive online library of technical information and guidance – available free to all TDUK members.

For our timber merchants and suppliers, that means working closely with other industry organisations, including the National Merchant Buying Society (NMBS), the Wood Protection Association (WPA) and the Timber Decking & Cladding Association (TDCA), to issue the latest updates on issues ranging from preservative timber treatments and tile battens, through to cladding and decking guidance.Make the most of TDUK resources

All TDUK members also have access to monthly statistics on timber imports and stock levels across the UK, as well as weekly economic and construction updates from the Construction Products Association (CPA).

The TDUK team is constantly adding to the vast resources we make available to our members. Already this year we have launched a Net Zero Roadmap report, in conjunction with 11 other trade organisations, to establish a clear route for the timber industry to achieve net zero carbon by 2050. The report includes in-depth tools on how everyone in the timber supply chain, including merchants, can play their part in reducing carbon emissions and investing in low-carbon solutions to make their business stronger and more competitive over the coming years.

We have also published the first issue of Supplying Timber – a free quarterly resource dedicated to the timber supply sector that delivers news, updates and the latest practical guidance for all timber merchants, manufacturers and tradespeople who are members of TDUK.

Each quarter, Supplying Timber will bring inspiring case studies, TDUK member profiles and regulation updates directly to the door of our merchant members, as well as giving them practical tips on how best to store timber, and in-depth information on the types of timber that merchants should be stocking and prioritising in the coming months. TDUK members can read the first issue online at https://timberdevelopment.uk/magazine/supplying-timber

But we’re not stopping there. Also available are educational resources about laminated veneer lumber, the Code for Construction Product Information and how merchants need to adapt their businesses, as well as regular trade notices that give merchants updates on current situations around import restrictions of certain  timber species as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

We are also already working on the next set of resources that will be published in the coming months, including a unique Merchants’ Guide to Selling Timber that will give you a complete overview of the timber sector, helping you to bring new members of staff on board with how best to sell and upsell timber products.

We make many of these resources available free to everyone in the timber industry, while others are exclusive to our members. Learn more about the resources available to TDUK Members, and how you too can become a member, at www.timberdevelopment.uk
