Gleeds wins place on new HPC Professional Services framework
International property and construction consultancy Gleeds has been selected to provide commercial and programme management services to Hinkley Point C (HPC) under the new Professional Services framework. Appointed by major utilities provider EDF Energy, part of EDF’s Nuclear Family, the new agreement replaces the previous framework which expired at the end of 2025.
The latest appointment will run until the completion of the HPC development in Somerset and will expand the scope of Gleeds’ provision from predominantly commercial and contract management services to include a wider range of project management, business support, and programme management functions.
Gleeds has been providing professional services to support the delivery of the HPC project for the past ten years, offering strategic advice to the EDF Energy client team around the management of complex construction programmes within the highly regulated nuclear sector. To date, its focus has been on establishing and overseeing major site civil works contracts through the post-contract phase, including main civil works and the marine works.
Commenting on the latest appointment, Mark Graves, Head of Energy and Defence at Gleeds, said,
“Nuclear power is one of the most reliable, low-carbon energy sources available to the UK today and the EDF nuclear family is playing a key role in the development of projects that are leading the ‘nuclear renaissance’ – Hinkley Point C alone is expected to provide enough low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. It’s gratifying to see that our team’s vast experience in this challenging field has been recognised with this reappointment and I look forward to our continuing involvement with HPC through to its completion.”
Gleeds has over 40 years’ experience delivering specialist consultancy services to the nuclear industry, supporting the construction of EDF Energy’s fleet of operating power stations, including the Advanced Gas-cooled Reactors in the 1980s and Sizewell B Pressurized Water Reactor in the 1990s. The consultancy has been involved in the development at Hinkley Point C since 2015 and has been working on Sizewell C since 2022.
