More than 100 highway professionals attended two Innovation Days exploring the latest developments in road safety, carbon reduction and efficient working practices.

Hosted by WJ Group at its Stoke-on-Trent engineering depot, the events welcomed attendees from a number of local authorities, National Highways and others working in the industry. Highlights included demonstrations of WJ Group’s retexturing and surface repair processes, which extends the life of surface assets whilst improving safety for road users with minimal disruption.

As well as hearing from leaders at WJ, delegates were able to join a “Dragons’ Den” style session, showcasing the latest innovative products and technologies WJ is bringing to the market. There were also opportunities to hear from businesses that regularly collaborate with WJ, including Clearview Intelligence, Vaisala and Causeway Technologies.

Other innovative solutions on display included WJ’s Weatherline Ultra, RapidGrip and Clearview’s newest solar road stud, the Solarlite Click. The event offered attendees the opportunity to view innovative plant in action that increases safety for operatives while improving operational efficiency, including the ThermoPrint, and the WJ Autonomous Pre-Marker. New ways of working and solutions were also discussed, including various Intelligent Traffic Solutions and a unique method to deliver road markings with Road Marking Asset Management Planning (RAMP).
