New breakthrough render that is better for the planet
Specifiers are increasingly weighing up the net zero impact of materials they use – and Saint-Gobain Weber has risen to the challenge.
Its new breakthrough weberpral E render, with increased levels of recycled material, boasts a 22%* reduction in carbon emissions from fossil fuels.
Not only that, the monocouche render cuts non-renewable energy consumption by 19%*, uses 28%* less water in the raw material supply and saves 25%* energy consumption in total over the lifecycle of the product.
“Our customers are increasingly turning to us to help them achieve their ambitious sustainability targets,” said James Mead, R&D Director, Saint-Gobain Weber.
“We’ve worked with a panel of professional renderers across the UK to help develop and test weberpral E to make sure it’s not only more sustainable than previous renders but that it carries the same industry-leading standard of performance.
“Blind tests, including spraying, ruling, and scraping, were carried out with four other leading monocouche renders with weberpral E coming out on top in each category, including ease of application.
“Essentially, weberpral E boasts all the same key features as our original monocouche render but is demonstrably better for the environment.”
To reduce the reliance on using traditional cement, many of Weber products use cement replacement technology. However, the new approach for weberpral E introduces a more sustainable alternative resource.
James added: “Having an EPD in place for weberpral E was a vital step for us, as we can offer the sector verified information on cradle-to-grave environmental performance, while giving our customers information that helps them decarbonise and reduce their own environmental footprint.”
Weber is part of the Saint-Gobain group which has a target to become carbon net zero by 2050.
