Wellbank’s wellbeing homes – new phase launched in Lake District National Park

A UNIQUE homes development in the Lake District National Park designed around homeowners’ wellbeing held a community showcase event to announce its latest success.

Wellbank, in Bootle, Cumbria, which is building a sustainable community in harmony with the environment and the area’s outstanding natural surroundings designed to promote mental and physical wellbeing for homeowners, held the event at Captain Shaw’s Primary School.

Wellbank homeowners, prospective plot buyers, representatives from organisations such as Cumbria Tourism and Cumberland Council, and members of the local community were among about 40 attendees who gathered to discuss the site’s latest plans.

They heard from Wellbank owner Janet Nuttall that with all the 18 plots on the first phase of the 12-acre site now sold or reserved, the second phase was now being launched.

Wellbank allows homeowners different ways to own their dream home in the Lake District National Park – to buy a plot and design their own home; buy a plot and choose from a range of designs and pick their own lay-out and fit out; or opt to move into a ready-built home.

“We are very proud of the environment we are creating at Wellbank with all the planting and the ponds and providing spacious plots because we know how much having this extra space and the natural environment promotes physical and mental wellbeing for everyone who lives here.

“Plot buyers (who have come from all over the UK and Europe) we thank you for buying into our vision and making Wellbank your home.

“We are now launching phase two of the development and are very excited for what the future holds for Wellbank and the wider community.”

As well as the latest plots being released for sale, Janet also announced that in spring this year the foundations are set to begin on building a community hub on the site – which will be open to the public seven days a week as well as Wellbank homeowners. The hub will be home to a swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, café, bar and bistro.

After the speeches, attendees at the event enjoyed canapes and drinks provided by Sam and Andy Bowden from the Silecroft Beach Café, watched a video about Wellbank, and discussed the latest plans for the site including landscaping by Cumbrian expert Tom Hinson.
